Our Decking & Flooring

Traditionally, the solid teak used in the construction of boat decks, commonly known as ‘Burmese Teak’, has been sourced from Myanmar (Burma). Due to illegal harvesting and depletion of forests, it is now illegal to import this teak into Europe and many other countries worldwide. As a result, boatowners, shipwrights and specialists are turning to synthetic composite decking materials and alternative products. Development of these materials has improved immensely over the past two decades and there now exists a small number of very high-quality producers in this market. From these producers, we work with the best materials and supply new, bespoke synthetic decks across all manner of boats.

When you engage Fitout Marine to service your flooring or decking requirements, we will visit your boat initially to assess the extent of the work required and take measurements. Following this an estimate will be provided to you outlining the anticipated costs and timeframe, and from there we will begin the process of templating the decks, ordering materials and preparing the surfaces. Once the materials have been manufactured and installed, we will finish off all edges, seams and reveals to ensure a neat and professional finish is delivered each time.

Esthec

Designed and developed in the Netherlands, Esthec is a unique patented thermoset bio-based material which offers an environmentally friendly option to boatowners. One could be forgiven for thinking that a natural composite would sacrifice longevity or appearance, however Esthec does neither; it has 12 catalogue colours and does not fade or deteriorate in any weather condition.

Esthec offers an unparalleled flexibility in design and customisation options. Unlike synthetic PVC teak, Esthec produces large panels which are CNC inlaid with the boatowners approved deck design. At Fitout Marine we will design an initial concept for your boat and review this with you, making any changes or additions you wish, before going into production.

Synthetic Teak

This PVC based product is a flexible ‘synthetic teak’, designed to look and feel like real teak. In most cases the difference between real teak and synthetic will always be noticeable, however, the synthetic look has developed in recent years and become the preferred aesthetic for many new builds and refits. Not only is the lifespan of these materials’ indefinite, but they are also very easy to maintain and keep looking well. The PVC does not deteriorate or change colour with age. Any marks or damage can be easily taken out repaired and brought back to looking new again.
